Ferrets Adopted in 2000-2001

SILVER (male), ABBY (female)  ADOPTED! 12-17-01

Silver (L) and AbbyAbby (butterscotch panda), Silver (dark eyed white) arrived at FVR on 10/2/01. They had their vet check and distemper shot on 10/4/01. Abby and Silver are both 2-2 1/2. Silver is deaf, like many dark-eyed whites, but has not shown any nipping associated with this. Like many deaf ferrets, he is extremely vocal during play. Abby and Silver are friendly and playful, with no health concerns other than some mild ferret acne on Silver's tail.

FAMILY OF THREE WITH HOUSE LOOKING FOR HOME
ADOPTED! 12-09-01
Oscar, Dusty and Snowflake are three playful ferrets who arrived together.  Oscar is a dark sable male approx 3 1/2.  He plays, but then is ready to cuddle up and nap on a warm lap.  Dusty is a handsome silver male who weighs in at over 3 pounds.  Based on his teeth, we believe him to be under 2.  Snowflake is probably the youngest of the group, with an estimated age of 1 to 1 1/2.  She is an albino female.  Snowflake and Dusty love to chase each other and wrestle.  All three were vet checked and got their distemper shots on Dec 3, 2001.  They arrived at FVF via Bay Area Humane Association and brought along a large cage that was in bad need of cleaning.  After cleaning, some rust remains but the cage is in decent condition and is large enough for all three ferrets.
LUNA (female)
ADOPTED! 11-28-01

Luna (silver) is 1½ to 2. She arrived at Bay Area Humane as a malnourished stray, but has gained weigh and is now healthy. She is interested in other ferrets, but gets upset by rough play. She got her distemper shot on 11/15/01.

TELA (female) ADOPTED! 11-25-01

Tela (dark sable) is approx 3 years old. She is very nice but is very hostile toward other ferrets. She got her distemper shot on 11/13/01.
BUDDHA (male)
ADOPTED! 11-21-01

Buddha (dark sable) is 2 years old, free with kisses, playful with energy to spare. He is a great wardancer and is very interested in the other ferrets. His previous owner surrendered him because of a move. According to that owner, Buddha is good with children. He got his distemper shot on 11/15/01.
ROSIE (female)
ADOPTED! 11-21-01

Rosie (light sable) is around a year old. She is very sweet, and although she is becoming used to other ferrets, she would do fine as a single ferret. She is up to date on rabies and distemper, although FVF is waiting for confirmation on the dates.

PENNY AND JILL (both female)  ADOPTED! 11-10-01

Penny (dark sable) and Jill (butterscotch) arrived at FVF on 10/21/01. They were vet checked and had their distemper on 10/25/01. According to their previous owner, they are both a year and a half old, and this corresponds to the condition of their teeth. They are both friendly and outgoing, although Jill has a tendency to hiss when you reach for her from the front. Neither has shown any nipping behavior. Penny and Jill have a deluxe cage and a variety of supplies.

A PAIR OF SWEET OLDER FERRETS
ADOPTED! 11-6-01

Sweetpea (female silver) and Whiskey (male dark sable) approx 4-5.  They are incredibly sweet and in need of a new loving home.  Vet check and distemper shot scheduled for 11/6/01.

TIGGER AND TAZ (both female)
REUNITED WITH OWNER 11-10-01

Tigger (dark sable) and Taz (silver) arrived at FVR on 10/25/01. They were vet checked and received their distemper vaccine the same day. According to their previous owner Tigger is 3, and Taz is 2, although FVF believes they may be slightly younger based on the condition of their teeth (the Vet agrees). Tigger is mellower than Taz, and seems somewhat confused (but pleased) by time out of a cage. Taz is more rambunctious and has shown some nipping behavior during play and attention, this behavior seems to indicate that she has not been well socialized but time and attention should correct the behavior.

Bella ADOPTED! 11-4-01

Bella is 4-4 1/2 years old and extremely sweet and playful. She would love having her very own human to adore. Bella came with a cage and some supplies.  She was surrendered to FVF because her owner developed some serious health problems. Bella needs to be paired with another ferret as she has been with other ferrets all her life and should not be considered as a single ferret.  She had her distemper shot in Sept. 2001.

Randy     ADOPTED! 10-21-01

Is a dark sable male with a white bib. He is between 1 1/2 and 2 years old. He is very playful, but will put his teeth on you when you wake him up or when he is very excited. He has been known to bully other ferrets, so suitable friends are important.  He arrived at FVF as a stray, via Fox Valley Humane Association. He was vet checked and had his distemper shot on 9/20/01.

Tito (L) and Chino (R)

Tito (L) and Chino (R)
Are big males under a year old. They are friendly and playful. They came to Fox Valley Ferret after being left with two other ferrets at the Menomonee Park Zoo. Chino needed dental work done to address a profound under bite. As a result, he is missing a number of bottom teeth. The healing process is going well and he is able to eat normally now. Both had distemper shots on 8/27/01.
Kylie

Kylie
Is a healthy young (under 1 year old) female who was going to be "set free" until neighborhood good samaritans intervened and made sure Kylie got to FVF. Kylie had her distemper on 9/1/01. Kylie is a great "wardancer" and is very vocal during play. She takes obvious joy in playing chase games. She recently moved into FVF's communal room and is delighted to have other ferrets to play with.
Black (L) and White (R)

Black (L) and White (R)
Are 1 ½ to 2 years old. Black is female, White is male. They had their distemper shots on 9/6/01. According to the information received by FVF, they were turned into an area humane society because they were not allowed in a duplex. The only other information received was that there is no history of biting. They are active and appear to be healthy.

Ladybug (two photos)

(Special Home Needed!)

Ladybug
Ladybug is 1 to 1.5 yr old.  She may need a home where she is the only ferret and the primary caregiver is female, although she has made great strides in her interactions with other ferrets lately.  She tends to be shy at first, but warms up to you quickly.  She needs an owner that understands ferrets and knows their behavior. Ladybug is up to date on her distemper (until July 2002).

Chip (L) and Dale (R)
Chip (left) and Dale

Chip and Dale are friendly males who were born in January 2000. They had their distemper shots on 8/23/01. They are used to children and would like a home were they get plenty of playtime. These boys have a deluxe cage and some supplies, all they need now is a new address.

Skoshi (darker) and Meiko
Skoshi (top) and Meiko

Skoshi (darker) and Meiko are sweet females. Meiko is slightly more rambunctious than Skoshi, but both are playful and enjoy attention. Meiko is  current on Rabies and Distemper until 1/02, Skoshi for both until 8/02. Meiko will be 3 in October 2001, Skoshi will be 4 in January 2002. These girls have their own cage and supplies and are just waiting for the perfect new home.

Bear

Older guys need love too!

Bear
Bear is 4-4.5 years old and is playful and sweet tempered.  He needs a home with other ferrets.  He does have a permanent limp, but that doesn't slow him down at all!  Aside from having his teeth cleaned very soon, Bear is in very good health and his distemper is good until August 2002.

Mooch and Bonkers

Mooch and Bonkers
Mooch and Bonkers are 2 year old females.   They are spayed and descented. Their distemper is good until July 2001.   They are good girls, playful but still love being held.  Mooch has a Beanie Baby addiction and will "borrow" any that are easily, or not so easily accessible.  Bonkers has an extremely soft and cuddly coat.

Skippy, Spanky, and Scout
Skippy Spanky and Scout - The 3 Musteteers

Skippy (female), Spanky (male), and Scout (male) are all approximately 8 months as of February 2001.  All have been neutered or spayed and descented.  Their distemper is good until January 2002. They still have some baby features, but will soon be getting their adult faces and coats.  These are 2 brothers and a sister and should be adopted together. Spanky likes to clean the ears of his 2 litter mates.  Skippy and Spanky are a bit more playful than ScoutScout is a mama's boy and likes to be held.

Ozzie(left) and Wheeler(right)

OzzieWheeler

Ozzie and Wheeler are males between 2-3 years old.  They are neutered and descented.  Their distemper is good until May 2001.  They are "wired weasels", either on the go or sleeping.  They are not much for being held and cuddled-they have places to go and things to get into.  No health concerns have been noted.  Wheeler and Ozzie should be adopted together.

Squiggles (left) and Sweetie

SquigglesSweetie

Squiggles and Sweetie are spayed and descented females.  Both are very tiny.  Sweetie is almost 4, Squiggles is probably 4-4½ .  They came to Fox Valley Ferret because their owner is moving out of state.  Both are healthy and playful, but Sweetie does tend to do some nipping in the course of that play.  Their distempers are good until October 2001.  Squiggles and Sweetie should be adopted together, and should only be adopted by a person who has had ferrets in the past and understands the nipping behavior.

Daisy and Tessa
Daisy and Tessa

Daisy and Tessa are spade and descented females.  Daisy is approx 3 and is scheduled for her distemper on January 11, 2001.  Tessa is approx 4 and her distemper is good until September 2001.  Both are active, without being wired.  They enjoy attention and are willing to be held.  Daisy was turned in when she reportedly bit her owner's niece and was not put up for adoption because of that.  However during her stay at Fox Valley Ferret there has been no sign of biting or nipping behavior.  Tessa was surrendered because her owner was going away to college.  Tessa was adopted previously, but was returned to Fox Valley Ferret after a short time because she was tipping her water dish over.

Trixie
Trixie
Trixie
is a very small spade female.  She is between 3 and 4 and is a very active "wired weasel".  She should not be an "only" ferret, as she has spent most of her life with other ferrets, and spends a great deal of her time wrestling and playing with her shelter mates.  Trixie was surrendered along with another ferret,  Both distempers are good until December 2001.

Emmett Otter
Emmett Otter
Emmett Otter is about 3½ years old.  He is neutered and descented.  His distemper is good until May 2001.  He is very outgoing and is willing to be held for awhile without squirming away.  There are no current health concerns, and according to his previous owner, no history of health problem.

Ransom

Ransom - Adopted 1/1/2001
Ransom is approximately 1½-2 years old.  He is neutered and descented.  According to the information Fox Valley Ferret has received, Ransom had been taken from an abusive owner by a person who was not prepared to care for a ferret, but who did not want to see him abused.  He is very happy to be held and carried around, and has recently started learning how to play.  He has a couple of areas on his abdomen and front leg where he has chewed the fur away.  A vet check has revealed no physical problems and it is believed that the chewing was a result of stress and/or boredom.  Ransom is slightly overweight, but proper food and exercise will cure that.  His distemper is good until October 2001.
Malia
Malia 11-10-2000

Malia is probably about 2.  She is spayed and descented.  She is very playful.  No history was available to Fox Valley Ferret but a veterinary checkup revealed no health concerns.  Her distemper is good until October 2001.

Lucas
Lucas 10-23-2000

Lucas is probably about 2.  He is spayed and descented.  He enjoys playing with other ferrets but is not overly rambunctious.  He also enjoys being held.   No history was available to Fox Valley Ferret and although Lucas was mildly dehydrated when first seen, a veterinary check revealed no health concerns.  His distemper is good until October 2001.
