Ferrets Adopted in 2002

Sebastian  ADOPTED 12-29-02

Sebastian is a healthy almost 2 year old. He and another ferret arrived together and were and were adopted in June, but within 2 weeks of placement, the other ferret was refusing to use his hind legs. Tests showed no reason for this and he recovered in just over a week at FVF. He was returned to his adopter but again returned to FVF, this time because he was refusing to eat or play. Within 24 hours he was eating, playing and appeared to be a healthy, happy ferret. Because of his friend's "adjustment problems" Sebastian is being offered without him. He has been with other ferrets all his life though, and cannot be considered as an only ferret. Sebastian had his distemper shot in June 2002.

Micah and Molly   ADOPTED 12-27-02

Juvie and Mitts  ADOPTED 12-23-02

Juvie and Mitts are mature females, approx 5½ years old.  They are very sweet and have a good deal of energy for girls their age.  Both are very affectionate toward people.  They had their vet check and distemper shots on 10/26/02.  Special adoption rates are available for these "seniors".

Cassie  ADOPTED 12-19-02

Cassie is a nice ferret, although according to the previous owner she will bite if she feels she is being "forced".   She is about 1 ½ and had her vet check and distemper shot on 7/25/02.  She arrived with another ferret, but the two grew apart while at FVF.  As a result, he was placed into a good home with another ferret.  Because Cassie is used to being with others, she should not be considered as an "only". .

Marty and Panda ADOPTED 12-08-02

Marty and Panda are young males, roughly 1 ½.  They are EXTREMELY energetic and need a home where they are going to get a lot of playtime outside of the cage and a lot of interaction with their family.  They are very good jumpers and have gotten over barriers that usually hold ferrets.  Their distemper shots are good until March 2003.

Sweetpea  ADOPTED 12-06-02

Sweetpea is about 5.  She is very nice and mellow, although she is playful.  She is more of a "lap ferret" than is typical.  She needs a home with other ferrets, preferably in her age range.  Sweetpea is not descented, so she can express when upset or frightened.  Her distemper was done 11/8/02.  A special adoption rate is available for this "senior".

Samson, Clyde ADOPTED 11-30-02

Samson, Clyde are around 2.  They arrived in a group of eight "temporary placements" mid- summer. There has been no contact with their former owner since early September; therefore they have recently been classified as surrendered given the amount of time they have been here.  They had their vet check and distemper shots on 10/16/02.  Samson is a playful albino, Clyde is a snugly bibbed sable.

Sassy and Slinky  ADOPTED 10-27-02

Slinky and Sassy are between a year and 14 months.  Both are friendly and playful.

CHUBBY  ADOPTED 10-02-02

Chubby is a new arrival, a 7 month old male who is sweet and will be up for adoption shortly.  He has a pronounced underbite which will probably have to be addressed prior to going to a new home, but he is willing to meet prospective families prior to his surgery.  He is meeting his new vet on 8/20 and more information will be available after that..

Mr. Pibb  ADOPTED 9-30-02

Mr. Pibb is a new arrival, a young male, under a year old.  He is very active and playful and has been overjoyed at having other young ferrets (Chubby and Fuss) to play with.  His vet check and distemper was done on 8/30/02

Scout and Sable  ADOPTED 9-28-02

Scout and Sable were 14 months old in late Aug/early Sept. They are big girls, active, curious and playful. According to their previous owners, they had rabies and distemper shots in November. They were surrendered because of allergies.

A REAL SNUGGLEBUG  ADOPTED 9-22-02

Fred is between 3 ½ and 4. He arrived from Bay Area Humane on 6/8 with another ferret who died a week later. Fred is loving and mellow, and needs a home with at least one other ferret, preferably around his age.  His distempter was done on 6/10/02

Buddy and Boo  ADOPTED 9-22-02

Buddy and Boo are very nice and their former owners were sad at having to give them up. Both reportedly know their names and will look up to see what you want, although they don't necessarily come when called. Buddy is approx 4 ½, and Boo is approx 2.  They had their vet check and distemper shots on Aug 2, 02.

Spot and Snipper  ADOPTED 9-22-02

Spot and Snipper are 5 months old (Sept 02) and seem healthy and playful. They are energetic boys who need some training to master the litterpan. They are scheduled for a vet check and distemper shots on 9/6/02.

Sulla  ADOPTED 9-07-02

Sulla arrived as a stray. We are estimating her age between 2 and 2 ½. She is very sweet and gives kisses. She is scheduled for her vet check and distemper on 9/6/02.

Mabel and Maggie  ADOPTED 9-07-02

Mabel and Maggie were born in Dec, 99. According to the previous owner, Mabel is a "sweetie who likes to play with socks and is very inquisitive", while Maggie is "a snuggler who loves keys and tubes and will steal shiny objects". Both are litter trained and are scheduled for a vet check and distemper shot on 9/6/02.

Hunter and Zeus  ADOPTED 9-05-02

Hunter and Zeus.  They are young males, most likely litter mates, roughly 1 1/2.  They are vet checked and had their distemper shots on 8/22/02.  They are friendly and playful and absolutely beautiful-and I think they know it!

Two-Tone  ADOPTED 8-25-02
KORI and NATALIE  ADOPTED 8-22-02

Kori and Natalie are females, all approx 1½ . They are healthy and playful, although both Kori and Natalie arrived with broken upper left canines, which were extracted on May 30.  They had their distemper shots on May 28, 02.

HONEY AND ELI  ADOPTED 8-16-02

Honey and Eli were born in April 02. They are very sweet and playful, but because of their age they are not fully socialized. They had a vet check and boosters on 7/11/02.

Valentine  ADOPTED 8-15-02

Valentine is about 3 1/2.  He is a large, solid boy who gives kisses.  He has beautiful mask markings.

TENNA   ADOPTED 8-11-02

Click here to read about her with the companions who were just adopted.

RAMSES (withdrawn for heath reasons)
AND CLEO
ADOPTED 8-04-02
Adoptable pending vet visit on 6/20.Ramses and Cleo arrived through FVHA on 6/12.  Ramses appears to be 3.5 - 4.  One of his lower canines has a pretty pronounced underbite and may need to be extracted.  He is a big boy who likes cuddling.  Cleo appears to be about 1 1/2.  She is a tiny dark sable female with no apparent health concerns.  She is active and curious.
Bear (male)
ADOPTED 8-03-02

Bear is estimated to be about 1½, which is also the age reported by his previous owner. He was surrendered to Bay Area Humane because the other ferret in the household died and the owners were concerned that Bear was "to lonely" now. Bear had his vet check and distemper on July 30, 02.

A PAIR OF BUDDIES  ADOPTED 8-02-02

Jake and Elmo are young males, roughly 1-1½. They were brought to Bay Area Humane as strays-apparently they were traveling together. They are very curious and energetic. Jake, a dark sable, seems to be the leader while Elmo, an albino follows his lead.  Their vet check and distemper will be done on 7/9/02.
FIDGITA
ADOPTED 7-30-02
Fidgita is a light sable female.  She is approx. 3 1/2 years old and is very sweet.  She is okay with mellow ferrets, but seems afraid of younger or rambunctious ferrets.  We believe she would be happiest in a quite home without young children.  Also, she would like to be an "only" ferret with an owner who has lots of attention to give!  Currently, her coat is somewhat coarse, probably from a combination of having clay cat litter line the bottom of her cage, and inferior food.  She was vet checked and had her distemper shot on May 1, 02.
Special girl needs special home ADOPTED 7-16-02

Daffodil is approx 3 years old.  She arrived with another ferret who did not survive (see Tulip on the Eulogy page).  Daffodil is very aggressive toward other ferrets in spite of having had a cage mate.  We believe that she had been used as a breeding ferret at one time, which may explain some of this behavior.  She also apparently has at least a partially intact anal gland and can express that when she is upset or startled, but not to the extent of a non-descented ferret.  Daffodil takes time to trust new people, and may occasionally bite.  Because of this, she needs a home with an experienced ferret owner and no children.

SEBASTIAN and CORDS ADOPTED 6-5-02

Both are large males.  They are sweet tempered and playful but had to be surrendered when their owner moved out of state.  According to their former owner (and observation at FVF) they are very good about using the litter pan.  Sebastian was born in Feb of 2001, Cords in April of 2001.  Sebastian will need his distemper booster in June of this year, Cords will need his done in August.

CUJO ADOPTED 5-12-02

Cujo is a dark sable male, 2-2 1/2, who was surrendered when his owner developed a chronic illness.  When he first arrived, Cujo did a fair amount of unpredictable biting.  Since being put with other ferrets, this behavior has almost totally disappeared, although some nipping has still occurred.  Because of this, Cujo must be placed into a home with other ferrets, and with NO CHILDREN.  Cujo was vet checked and had his distemper shot in April, 2002.  If you are interested in giving Cujo a patient, caring home, please contact FVF for more information.

SMOKEY (male) ADOPTED 5-12-02

We'd like to say a special "thank you" to Amanda who specifically requested special needs ferrets and who had the background and willingness necessary to give Smokey a good home with other ferrets.

Smokey has had successful surgery.  His fur has not come back in yet, but aside from that he is ready to meet adopters.

SmokeySmokey (panda) is approx. 4 years old. He is very sweet and healthy. A previous owner surrendered him due to a move.. Smokey had a growth removed from his shoulder just before coming to FVF, and is recovering nicely. Smokey has been with other ferrets all his life and needs to go to a home with other ferrets. He got his distemper shot on Sept. 11, 01.

BOB AND POO ADOPTED 3-15-02
BANDIT AND BEAR ADOPTED 3-13-02

Bear and Bandit are males under 2 years old.  Both are very nice, but overweight.  They have been slimming down at FVF, but Bear especially is still obese.  They need to have a home were they will get several hours of out of cage time daily to keep their weight loss on track.  They were vet checked and had their distemper shots on 2/18/02.

ANGEL AND RAVEN ADOPTED 3-09-02

Angel is a tiny sable female just over a year old. Her best buddy is Raven, a year old darker sable male. They are sweet and lovable. Vet check is pending the week of March 4th. They came to FVF with Smudge and Boo (below) when the landlord said "no ferrets".  They are current on their Rabies and Distemper until 6/02.
SMUDGE AND BOO
ADOPTED 3-05-02

Smudge is a year old dark sable male. He arrived with three other ferrets, but has been paired with Boo, a ten-month-old albino male. Smudge is playful and gives kisses. Boo is lively and rambunctious, but he still bites during play sometimes. According to the previous owner, Boo likes to be "spun" when you play with him. Vet check is pending the week of March 4th. Smudge and Boo arrived with Angel and Raven (above) when the landlord said "no ferrets".
DEWEY AND MARTY
ADOPTED 3-05-02

Are both dark sable males about 6 months old. They are healthy and playful, although Dewey likes to snuggle with people a little more than Marty, who prefers running games. They came to FVF because of allergies. Vet check is pending the week of March 4th.
Bean (male) ADOPTED 3-03-02

Buddy (L) and BeanBean (R) (light sable) is 41/2 to 5 years old. He is very sweet and mellow. He arrived at FVF on 10/24/01 with another male who has since died of cancer. Bean is healthy and had his distemper on 10/25/01.

GOMER ADOPTED 2-15-02

Gomer is a two year old male with light sable markings. According to his prior owner, he is very sweet and docile, but reportedly has a make-up fetish, meaning he will lick your foundation off. He does not like other ferrets, and will either ignore them totally or aggressively attach them, which is what caused his surrender. After arriving at FVF he needed one of his canine teeth extracted and was treated with antibiotic to address a minor infection at the site. He has recovered nicely and is ready to go to his permanent home. His distemper shot was done on January 15, 2001.

JASMINE (female) ADOPTED 2-09-02

Jasmine (dark sable) is 4 ½-5 years old, healthy and lovable. She arrived with a male ferret, who is unadoptable due to advanced adrenal disease, on 10/12/01. She had her vet check and distemper shot on 10/15/01. She should not be considered as an only ferret.

FERRETFACE (male)

FerretfaceFerretface (light sable) is probably 3 ½-4 years old. He is very sweet and cuddly. He arrived as a stray and was thrilled to have other ferrets to play with. He should not be considered as an only ferret. He was vet checked and had his distemper on 11/6/01.

BANDIT (male)

BanditBandit (medium sable) is 4 years old. He had both rabies and distemper shots on 10/25/01. Bandit is very nice, and although it appears that he was an "only", he has adjusted quickly to other ferrets.
