Our previously adopted Ferrets. A warm thank you to all our Adopters! Reggie (ADOPTED 12-24-05) arrived with a much older ferret (Duke was withdrawn from adoption) after
their owners had a baby and no longer had enough time for them. Reggie is an active fluff ball of a ferret who ha a tendency to jump on the other ferret's head while he was trying to sleep. Reggie was born January of
2005. Because Reggie has always been with another ferret, he should be placed in a home with another younger ferret (Farrah, see her bio, would be a good match). His vet check and distemper shot was done on 11/3/05
(CV). Joe (ADOPTED 12-24-05) Emma and Pinky (ADOPTED 12-03-05) were
being fostered due to sensitivity during pregnancy. It was hoped that at some point in the pregnancy, or following delivery, the sensitivity would end and their owners would reclaim them, however, sine there has
been no further contact from their owners, they are now being placed for adoption. Pinky was probably born early in 2003, Emma mid 2002. They were vet checked and brought up to date on their distemper
shots on 6/29/05 (AMC). The following description was written by their FVF foster mom: Pinky, loves his cage-mate Emma. They
almost always are snuggling together and when they play, boy do they play chasing each around and around through the tunnels. Pinky is a little more affectionate than Emma, giving you kisses after he warms up to
you. He needs to get to know you a little before he will give his kisses. Both ferrets are real good about using the litter pan. They both like an occasional cheerio for a treat and can be enticed by
them. A very favorite pastime for them was to crawl in a shoe box that was taped shut and had a hole cut in the end with a few sheets of crumpled tissue paper inside. Both by the way are excellent climbers.
Nothing is out of their reach. A very sweet pair!!!!

|
Nyata |
|
Simon and Nyata (ADOPTED 11-25-05)
arrived with Chunusi and Raruka and they would like to stay together if possible. Nyata (pronounced ny-ot-ah) tends to be a nipper when he
wants your attention, biting the front or the back of your ankle. He usually does not bite very hard. He likes to be held and carried around. He loves his Yogie treats and will come
running from wherever he is if you shake the canister. Nyata means sneaky in English. He was born 10/03. Simon is a wild boy who loves to play. He loves his Yogie treats and will
stand up to beg for them. He will occasionally put his teeth on you but he does not apply pressure unless you try to jerk away. Saying "No" in a firm voice has worked for his former
owner. He likes to be held like a baby and likes to ride on shoulders but gets down on his own schedule. He is the most vocal of all the boys. Simon was probably born fall 2002.
Vet check and distemper shots were done on 6/29/05 (AMC).

Chunusi |
|
Raruka |
|
Chunusi and Raruka (ADOPTED 11-25-05)
arrived with Simon and Nyata and they would like to stay together if possible. Chunusi (pronounced cha-new-see) loves hording tennis balls. He hates to have
his nails trimmed. He is very playful and talkative, especially when war dancing. He loves to ride on bedsheets. Chunusi's name means sea monster in English. Chunusi was born 10/03.
Raruka (pronounced rah-roo-kah) loves to dig and swim in a shallow tub. He is very people orientated. He will stand on his back legs and grab at the calf of your leg and ask to be
picked up. He will stand and beg for Yogie treats. He is very interactive and loving. He likes to cuddle, but only after you tire him out a bit by playing with him. Raruka's name means
splitting one's sides with laughter. He was born 12/03. Vet check and distemper shots were done on 6/29/05 (AMC).
Rusty and
Missy (ADOPTED 11-19-05) arrived via Portage County Humane because the owner, who seems to have
collected several animals, had abandoned all of her pets for at least 3 days, and had just been evicted. The shelter was
called out by the Sheriff's Dept and landlord to take custody of the animals. They have now been forfeited by the woman,
who failed to pay fines and vaccination fees for all the animals removed. These ferrets are extremely nice. They like
people, and other ferrets. They had lived in a home with cats and dogs, but we are not sure if they interacted with these
animals. Rusty is laid back, playful, and shows no interest in dominance. He is described as a deep sleeper. Missy is a
bouncing bundle of energy, very playful, vocal and very interested in everything. Both were probably born mid 2003 and
are described as "decent" about the litter pan. Vet check and distemper done on 11/10/05 (AMC). Phantom and Gypsy (ADOPTED 10-29-05)
are a nice pair, surrendered with Diesel and Silver due to "a variety of
reasons". Gypsy is described as "miss priss". She loves shoulder rides, yogis and raisins. She will nip toes and "play bit".
Phantom can get rough when he plays with other ferrets, but it is because of his size, not being mean. They were reportedly born spring of 2002. Their vet checks and distemper shots were done on 10/11/05.
Mischief
and Hershey
(ADOPTED 10-29-05) are very nice boys who arrived at
Fox Valley Humane when their owner got a new landlord. They had been with him since the pet store and it is obvious they are very well socialized. Their coats were kind
of coarse, probably due to the fact that they were being feed a cheap cat food, but have improved. They were probably born in summer of 2002. Their vet checks and
distemper shots were done on 7/19/05.
Orlando and Nibbles (ADOPTED 10-25-05) arrived via Bay Area Humane when their former owners decided they no
longer had enough time for them. Both are very active, but will cuddle and allow themselves to be carried around. Both
had been fed dog food, but immediately accepted ferret food. In spite of the poor diet, they seem healthy. They were
adopted briefly but returned in under two weeks. According to this boy's mother, these are very good, loving ferrets who
are good about the litter pan and who go on newspaper when out of the cage. She said they allow the young child she
babysits for to carry them around without struggling or nipping. She said she will miss the ferrets, but her son just isn't
ready for the responsibility. They were probably born summer of 2003. Vet check and distemper completed on 9/6/05.
Diesel and Silver adopted as of 10/25/05 Cole
(ADOPTED 10-19-05) Fonda
(ADOPTED 10-13-05)
is a sweet tempered female who arrived at Fond du Lac humane as a stray. While there, staff noticed that she was missing a lot of fur and made the
decision to turn her over to ferret rescue rather than try to adopt her out. She was given her distemper shot by Fond du Lac humane on 7/8/05. She had adrenal surgery on Aug 1, 2005
(NH) and, after a rocky couple of days, has recovered nicely. She is able to meet prospective owners and is looking forward to finding a forever home. She is very interested in other ferrets
and is currently sharing a cage. She would most likely be happiest in a home with one or two other mellow ferrets. She was adopted briefly, but was "too rambunctious" for the two elderly
ferrets in the household. Those owners discovered that Fonda enjoys riding shoulders. She was probably born in late 2000 or early 2001.
Garret (ADOPTED 9-25-05) is a very mellow lounger who was found November, 2004 in River Falls. He reportedly
came directly over to the person who found him and expected to be picked up. She took him home and made every
effort to locate his owner. When no owner came forward she kept him. Garret was surrendered to FVF on 9/8 because
the person who found him is having a baby and her husband does not want him in the house with the baby. He is very
affectionate, but is somewhat frightened of other ferrets. FVF will attempt to introduce him to other mild tempered,
mellow ferrets to see if we can get him more comfortable. He was probably born Fall of 2002. His vet check and distemper done on 9/12/05. Stinn and Cash (ADOPTED 9-25-05)
were surrendered due to a change in their owner's lifestyle. They are healthy and
have been well cared for. Stinn is described as more high strung, always on the go and the first to "get into something".
She had a canine tooth extracted on 7/8/05. Stinn was reportedly born in Feb 2003. Cash is very calm and laid back.
He is a very handsome boy with a sweet disposition. He has gone to a retirement community were his former owner
worked, for pet therapy. Cash was born the week of Feb 9, 2003. They had their vet check on 6/29/05. Their
distempers are not due until 11/2/05 (verified via vet record). Their previous owner is open to communication with the person who adopts them. Rocky and Harper
(ADOPTED 9-25-05) were originally adopted in March of 2005, but were returned Sept 1 because of family difficulties. Rocky is a very large male who is very sweet and loves being cuddled and carried around like a
baby. According to the person surrendering him he may nip lightly during play. His original vet check and distemper shot was done on 3/3/05. He had a mild vaccine reaction. Harper is an albino female who is also playful, but likes to climb
into drawers for naptime. Her original vet check and distemper shot was done on 3/8/05. Both ferrets were probably
born late in 2002 or early in 2003. Both have lived in a home with small children and small dogs. General health checks done on 9/12/05. Rosie (ADOPTED 9-22-05)
is an extremely active, vocal girl who loves to war dance and play. She was surrendered to FVF after being given to a person who had not planned on having a ferret and did not feel she could adequately care for
one. Although Rosie was alone when she was surrendered to FVF, she was delighted to discover the other ferrets here at
FVF. She should not be considered an only ferret and would do well in a household with other active ferrets. The person
who brought her to me had 5 young children and reported that she did well with them, although they did not handle her
without help. Rosie has also had a great deal of fun jumping on the cats here at FVF. Rosie was probably born early summer of 2004. Her vet check and distemper shot was done on 8/29/05. Buu and Baby (ADOPTED 9-16-05)
were brought to FVF as the result of an upcoming birth. Buu was born 12/03 and is described as very friendly and a kisser. Baby was born 1/05. He is a toe nipper, and will (reportedly) sometimes bite
without warning. This is most likely a socialization issue and it is believed that since he is so young it can be worked with by experienced owners. Vet check and distemper done on 8/9/05.
Faireet (ADOPTED 9-08-05)
is a calm, laidback girl, who is curious about new surroundings. She does do some nipping when she plays, or when someone she doesn't feel safe with tries to hold her. She doesn't like kids at all. She
came to her former owners neglected and unsocialized, but those people worked with her and she is much more social
now. She was allowed to run around in a bedroom, and once she picked her corner and had a litter pan put in it she was
"about 75%" trained. She loves soft balls (stuffed) and furry mice and will carry them around and hide them. Her favorite
treat is a small bit of green pepper, or peanut butter, but she also likes Whisker Lickin's moist chicken flavored treats. Vet check should be completed the week of Sept 6. Rascal and (Goose withdrawn for observation) (ADOPTED 9-04-05) are very sweet boys who were surrendered
via Bay Area Humane, reportedly due to a child's allergies. Goose gives kisses and Rascal is also very sweet. Both were
probably born summer of 2002. Vet check and distemper shots done on 8/12/05. Rascal had a tooth extraction on 8/17; he is recovering nicely.
Goose is being observed to determine if his overly dominant behavior toward Rascal is the result of boredom or early adrenal disease. Jack and Rain (ADOPTED 9-04-05)
were surrendered on 8/11/05 because "the kids" are no longer paying enough attention to them. Both are very sweet with no nipping or biting behavior. They are used to dogs and little kids. Rain had
a dead canine extracted on 8/12/05 and is doing fine. Jack is slightly overweight and has some fur loss on his belly,
probably due to being overweight. Jack was probably born mid 2002, Rain mid 2003. Vet check and distemper shots were done on 8/18/05. Swipers is a sweet female who has made it very clear she wants to be an only ferret, although she reportedly likes dogs. According to her former owner she plays fetch and
is a cuddler. She was surrendered after her owner moved and left Swipers with her father, who was not prepared to care for her. She was probably born early in 2002.
Her vet check and distemper shot were done on 5/13/05. She does not seem to like children.
Swipers is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her advance notice is required.
Wilma and
Betty (ADOPTED 8-22-05)
were surrendered on 8/3/05 after a landlord first approved them, and then changed his mind after the lease was signed. They are very sweet and love attention. Betty is more outgoing and playful,
while Wilma is slower to warm up to new people and is more reserved. Wilma is cautious with ferrets other than Betty,
but will accept them given time. They were probably born late summer of 2002. These girls would be wonderful "first ferrets". Vet check and distemper shots were done on 8/9/05.
Sassy (ADOPTED 8-21-05) was surrendered on 8/3/05. He had reportedly bitten at the owner's young nephew
(please ask about contributing factors). He also reportedly nips adults during play, we have not seen this at all at FVF.
When he arrived, he had apparently been doused with bitter apple which required a bath, he did not even attempt to bite
the person bathing him. While at FVF he has shown himself to be very playful and vocal. He made the transition into the
main population and seems to enjoy having other ferrets to play with. He was probably born mid 2003. Vet check and distemper shots were done on 8/9/05. Frankie (ADOPTED 8-21-05) was surrendered on 8/11/05 because of an upcoming marriage. According to the person
surrendering him he is very mellow and has never bitten or nipped. He is "pretty good" with the litter pan but does scratch
by closed doors. He comes to "kissy" noises. He also likes cats. He was probably born summer of 2003. He had his vet check and distemper shot on 8/18/05. Luigi and Mickey (ADOPTED 8-08-05)
are very large ferrets who would benefit from a home where they would get plenty of "out of cage" time. Mickey is huge. He likes to be carried
around and held. Eating is his "best" thing. Luigi likes to play. He is more active and gives kisses to nearly anyone who asks. Although he does not nip, he will grab at socks and sometimes gets
toes/feet as a result. Both ferrets where probably born Spring of 2001. Their vet check and distemper shots were done on 7/28/05.
Luca, Anakin, Mickey and
Dragon (ADOPTED 7-27-05) have had too much drama in their
lives recently (ask and Nanette will tell you the story). As a result, they need a home with no
small children and no stereos/TVs set at ear bleed volume. They would probably be happiest in a home with one or two
adults willing to give them lots of love and attention. THEY DEFINITELY NEED TO STAY TOGETHER. All four
have wonderful temperaments. Luca and Dragon are more laid-back snugglers. Anakin and Mickey are more active
players. Anakin was probably born in late winter or early spring 2002; Luca was likely born in summer or fall of 2001;
Mickey and Dragon were most likely born between late 2000 and spring 2001. Vet check and distemper shots done on 8/30/04.
Potential adopter identified. Slim Pickins (ADOPTED 7-13-05)
is a very nice older boy. He has been an "only" but we are hoping he picks a friend or two here at FVF. He has been with cats and dogs without problem. He will occasionally nip at noses, but that is the
only target he picks. He was born in spring of 2001. His vet check and distemper shot were done on 6/29/05. Kieran
and Kenzie (ADOPTED 7-13-05) arrived via direct surrender because their owner was moving. The person who brought them did not know their names/vet history and said
his daughter would call later with the information-she has not so FVF gave them new names. According to the information given at the time of surrender, Kenzie is calm and independent.
Kieran is nosey, playful and in the middle of everything. They have lived with a small dog and a cat, but no small kids. FVF has found them to be very nice ferrets and estimates that
they were born Spring or Summer of 2002. Vet check and distemper done on 6/7/05.
Pip and Pop (ADOPTED 7-10-05) Jester
and Jada (ADOPTED 7-10-05) are very recent arrivals at FVF. They appear healthy and are playful. Jada did
nip once while at FVF, but she was frightened by a dog and we do not believe it to be typical behavior for her. Jester has
a reported birth date of July 2004, Jada's birth date is reportedly October 2004. Their vet check and distemper shots were done on 6/20/05. Nox and Jade
(ADOPTED 7-03-05) are very sweet older ferrets. Nox is curious and likes
to explore. Jade is more cautious, perhaps because she is blind. Both seem to like people and attention. They arrived at FVF from a less than ideal situation and would benefit from a family
that would give them lots of love and attention. Jade needs to gain a little weight-which she should be able to do on a good ferret diet. Jade reportedly nips following kisses, although
FVF has not seen this behavior from her. Jade's tail is currently missing fur at the very tip; either she or Nox apparently chewed it away-which can be caused by stress. Jada was born
6/1/2000; Nox was born 8/8/2000. They were vet checked and got their distemper shots on 6/17/05.
Hoss (ADOPTED 7-02-05)
arrived on 6/24/05 from FVHA. He arrived as a stray so no information is available. The
people at FVHA did indicate that he is nice and likes swimming in his water, but does not seem to know what a litter pan
is for. Based on the condition of his teeth he was probably born fall of 2003. His vet check and distemper shot was done on 6/29/05. Midge (ADOPTED 7-02-05)
was surrendered due to a change in their owner's lifestyle. Midge is also described as
very sweet and calm. She has also gone to work with her former owner. She is described as very quiet and the last to
cause any trouble. She was born in March 2003. Vet check on 6/29/05. Their distemper is not due until 11/2/05 (verified via vet record). Bandit and Cody
(ADOPTED 7-01-05) were surrendered (with two other ferrets) due to a change in lifestyle for their
owner. They are somewhat thin, but show great interest in eating and drinking. Bandit arrived with a severely matted coat,
Cody has a very coarse coat. Many of Bandit's mats had to be cut away, the fur will regrow. Both have nice personalities
and get along with cats and kids. It is worth noting that even while the mats were being removed (which was
uncomfortable) not one of these ferrets attempted to bite either the person holding them or the person cutting and working
out the mats. Both ferrets were reportedly born summer of 2003. Vet check and distemper shots were done on 6/29/30. Teagan (ADOPTED 6-25-05) is a light sable female that arrived at Fox Valley Humane as a
stray. She seems very sweet and appears healthy. She is extremely playful and would likely be a good match for Panic (see below). She was most likely born January to June 2004. Her vet
check and distemper shot were done on 6/7/05.
Weasel and Ruby (ADOPTED 6-24-05) arrived on 6/13/05. They are reportedly very nice,
people oriented ferrets. Weasel is described as a relaxed sweetheart. We suspect he has insulinoma and is currently receiving medications, which will probably be life long. Ruby gives
kisses, is playful and jumps at feet. He gets very rambunctious when playing and sometimes does some mild nipping when
playing. Weasel was probably born summer of 2001; Ruby was probably born late 2002. Vet check and distemper shots were done on 6/14/05. Wolf
(ADOPTED 6-23-05) was surrendered with several other ferrets as the result of
a pending divorce. The elderly ferret he was especially close to died recently, so Wolf is now available. He is a snuggler who likes to have plenty of attention. He also enjoys
exploring. He has always been with other ferrets, so he should not be considered as an "only". He was reportedly born on 2/1/01. He was vet checked and had his distemper shot on 3/3/05. He had a
severe reaction and probably should not be vaccinated in the future. Potential adopter identified.
Reggie and Rudy (ADOPTED 6-15-05)
Chester
and Charlie (ADOPTED 6-14-05) arrived with two other ferrets who have since been adopted. According to
the person surrendering them they are active and playful. Charlie originally came to that home very unsocialized and was a
biter, now he occasionally nips but the biting is no longer a problem. Chester and Charlie were reportedly born 12/02. Their vet checks and distemper shots were done on 5/26/05. Ace (ADOPTED 6-10-05) arrived via Fox Valley Humane-no reason was available to FVF for her surrender. She is a
beautiful dark sable female, very curious and alert. She is not a Marshall Farms ferret and reportedly came from a breeder
in Illinois. She has a reported birth date in June, 2003. Her health check and distemper shot were done on 6/7/05. Panic (ADOPTED 6-13-05)
is a nice female who arrived as a stray via Oshkosh Humane. She seems very sweet and
active. She may be a nice match for Teagan (see above) as they are about the same age. She was most likely born January to June 2004. Her vet check and distemper shot were done on 6/7/05. Schuyler (ADOPTED 6-09-05)
was turned in to Fox Valley Humane because his owner could no longer afford him. According to the surrender papers he doesn't like to be left alone and is used to having the run of the house. He
reportedly would use the litter pan before leaving his cage. He has a reported birth date of 6/4/02. His vet check and distemper shot was done on 6/7/05. Mufasa (ADOPTED 6-07-05) was part of a large group of ferrets, including Wolf (see above) arriving at FVF as result of a divorce. He was in a FVF foster home for some time while the status of the ferrets became final.
According to his "foster mom" he loves to be carried around and played with, but he will do the "lick, lick, chomp". She said when he started kissing, it was
best to put him down. She also said that he will bite to get your attention. He has been with other ferrets, so he should not be considered as an "only". He
tends to try to dominate other males, but has been "put in his place" by ferrets here at FVF. He was reportedly born in 2/14/03. He has a rabies vaccination
which is good until May 2005 (previous owner). He was vet checked and had his distemper shot done on 3/1/05.
He had a moderate vaccine reaction.
Nomar and Kyra on
(ADOPTED 6-06-05) Fozzie (lighter face) and Moto
(ADOPTED 6-04-05) were turned into BAHS because the landlord would not allow
them. They were initially very thin, probably because they were being feed cat food. They have been gaining weight on a
good ferret food. They are very friendly and people oriented. They are good with dogs, cats and kids. They were recently adopted but were returned on 5/25/05 due to allergies.
The family that adopted them describes these ferrets as perfect and said it breaks their hearts to have to give them back. This family has a 5 year old son, dogs and cats and
there have been no issues with the ferrets interacting with any of them. Fozzie was probably born late in 2001 or early in
2002. Moto was probably born early to mid 2003. They had their vet checks and distemper shots on 5/13/05. Shady (ADOPTED 5-29-05)
was left at an area Petco. She seems to be very nice and was
described by the people who left her as very playful. Based on the condition of her teeth she was probably born spring or summer of 2003. Her vet check and distemper shot were done on
5/24/05 and one of her canines is being pulled on 5/26/05, she will be available after she recovers-most likely early June.
Peanut
and Beaner (ADOPTED 5-27-05)
were surrendered when their family's income changed dramatically. They have lived with dogs and cats and young children.
They are described as friendly and playful. Peanut is an escape artist who likes to squeeze through larger cage bars. They have been together their entire life and must not
be separated. They were born January of 2003. Their vet check and distemper shots were done on 5/24/05. They have a plush igloo that belongs to them and is part of the adoption.
Senona
and Lola (ADOPTED 5-27-05)
arrived separately but have become very close since arriving at FVF. Senona is a very active sable girl. She war dances, dooks and clucks the moment she is let out of her cage. She was
found in a dumpster and brought to FVHA, which held her for a stray period then turned her over to FVF. She was probably born late in 2002. Lola is a striking girl, large and fluffy with a white face. She is very nice and has
obviously been well cared for. She sometimes gives kisses. She was turned into BAHS as a stray, but we doubt that was the case-more likely the owners
did not want to pay the BAHS surrender fee. She was probably born in Dec 2003 or Jan 2004. They had their health checks on 5/3/05, but their distemper
shots were not done until 5/13/05 because the vaccine was backordered.
Pixie, Gigi and Tiger (ADOPTED 4-02-05)
were returned shortly after adoption due to an unanticipated move out of state. All three appeared to have upset stomachs on return, but recovered quickly. Tiger was born 10/31/01. He is a
handsome boy, very lovable. He has an enlarged spleen, which is fairly common in ferrets his age. Pixie was born
4/25/00. She is deaf, but very active and sweet. Gigi is very beautiful. She is sweet tempered and loving. She was born
1/27/01. Gigi had a seizure within an hour of return. She received medication for two days and has not shown symptoms
since. It is believed her seizure was triggered by her upset stomach/vomiting. All three had their vet checks and distemper shots on 3/1/05. Tiger had a severe vaccine reaction and should not be vaccinated in the future. Pixie also has a rabies
vaccination good until 10/21/05. These ferrets would really like to stay together. Mufasa (see below) arrived with these ferrets and would not mind staying with them. Whiskey (and Bear) (ADOPTED 3-19-05)
was surrendered on 10/3/04 with two other ferrets because their family was moving and could not afford the new security deposit required to keep them. One of the ferrets has since died, the
other (Kirby) has paired up with another ferret closer to his own age and activity level. Whiskey is very sweet. He is very
curious and likes to be in the middle of the action. He will follow you around or return to check on you during his
explorations. Whiskey was probably born in summer of 2000. Vet check and distemper done on 10/5/04. Rocky
(ADOPTED 3-06-05)
is a very large male who was surrendered to Bay Area Humane because the baby is
allergic. He is very sweet, but seems wary of other ferrets. He loves being cuddled and carried around like a baby. He
reportedly has been around kids under 8. He was probably born late in 2002 or early in 2003. His vet check and distemper shot was done on 3/3/05. He had a mild vaccine reaction. Pixie
and Tiger (ADOPTED 3-05-05) were surrendered as the result of a pending divorce. They are both very sweet
and even tempered. They enjoy being cuddled and played with and LOVE getting raisins as a special treat. Pixie has a
reported birth date of 4/25/00, Tiger 10/31/01. They had their vet check and distemper shot on 3/1/05. Tiger had a
severe reaction and should not be vaccinated in the future. Reese
(ADOPTED 3-05-05) arrived on 1/21/05. He was surrendered because the former owner had a premature baby
and does not have time to give the ferret the attention he needs at this time. Reese was most likely born spring or early
summer of 2000. He is described as friendly, playful and has no history of nipping or biting. FVF has found him to be very
sweet and loving. He has been with a blind dachshund, which he loved to play with. He is unsure of other ferrets and
would probably prefer to remain on "only" at this time. His vet check and distemper shot was done on 1/26/05. Tiki and Tavi (ADOPTED 3-04-05)
are very nice ferrets that arrived via Bay Area Humane. Both were underweight when they arrived, but have been gaining weight on quality ferret food. They are very playful and active. Tiki is a
talker-she got her name because she "tick, ticks" when excited. They were most likely born mid 2002. Vet check and distemper shots done on 3/1/05. Baby Girl and Angus (ADOPTED 2-19-05) where adopted into the same home separately, and want to stay together.
They were surrendered due to work changes for the person who had them along with Diamond
and Passions. Angus is a
very friendly, affectionate ferret. He is a big boy, which earned him the nickname "beef". He is energetic and playful. His
estimated birth date is spring of 2001. Vet check and distemper done by FVF on 5/14/04. Baby Girl is a tiny little female
originally adopted in late summer of 2003. She has allergies and requires small doses of medication (which she takes
without problems) for her wheezing. She is very active and the allergies are not expected to compromise her quality of life,
or her life span. She was probably born in Feb of 2003. Her previous owner had her distemper shot done on 9/3/04 at the vet FVF uses. A health check was done on 11/9/04. Luca, Anakin, Mickey and Dragon (ADOPTED 2-18-05)
were surrendered when their owner went to college. Luca and Dragon are more laid-back snugglers. Anakin and Mickey are more active players. All four have wonderful
temperaments. Mickey and Dragon were adopted on 9/4/04, but returned a month later because the family's cat could
not adjust. The ferrets were so happy to be back together that FVF is trying to place them together. Anakin was
probably born in late winter or early spring 2002; Luca was likely born in summer or fall of 2001; Mickey and Dragon were most likely born between late 2000 and spring 2001. Vet check and distemper shots done on 8/30/04.
Jake (removed from adoption due to advanced age)
was most likely born between late 1997 and early 1998. He underwent adrenal surgery on 11/15/02. Because the tumor was on the right gland, it could not be completely removed,
but the outcome is still positive. He is a good boy, blind in one eye. He does try to dominate other ferrets due to his
adrenal and would do well as an "only" as long as he is in a home where he will get lots of attention. His vet check and distemper was done on 6/7/04. Beans and Gibson (ADOPTED 2-11-05)
are people friendly but are aggressive toward other ferrets. They are quite
active and playful. They like to explore everything they possibly can. Both were most likely born mid to late 2000. Vet
checks and distemper shots done on 11/30/04. Beans has broken her canine teeth, but not far enough up to cause problems or make extraction necessary. Max and Fiona (ADOPTED 2-11-05) arrived at BAHS with almost no information (not even names). According to the
surrender form the people surrendering had them for a week and surrendered them because they did not get along with
their dog. Max is very large and his main activity on arrival was eating and sleeping. This caused concern in a young ferret
and blood work and x-rays were completed on 12/14/04. His blood work was slightly off and electrolyte replacement
was started. He made a rapid recovery and is now more active. We suspect a case of the flu might have been at the heart
of the problem. He likes being held and gives kisses. Fiona is thin but is active. She tends to nip during play or when
trying to instigate play, which seems to be the result of prior rough play. She likes people and attention. They were
probably born mid or late 2002. Fiona had her vet check and distemper shot on 12/14/04; Max' shot was postponed until 12/23/04 to allow him to recover from his illness. He had a mild vaccine reaction and should receive a pre-shot for future vaccinations. Lucky (ADOPTED 2-05-05)
Lucky is very playful and gives kisses. Lucky was probably born fall of 2002, Vet checks
and distemper shots were done on 11/30/04. Loki
and Felix (ADOPTED 2-01-05)
arrived on 1/15/05. According to the people surrendering them they are very
sweet with no history of nipping or biting. Both are very playful and energetic. They have been with a dog. They were
surrendered because the dog became aggressive toward them after the owners had a baby. Felix was born between 2/24 and 3/2/02, Loki was born between 7/28 and 8/3/02. Vet checks and distemper shots were done on 1/17/05.
Lucinda (ADOPTED 1-28-05) Buttons
and Bandit (ADOPTED 1-27-05)
are litter trained and are used to cats, dogs and other ferrets. Buttons loves
to get into everything. She likes bags, tubes and getting under blankets. She will sometimes nip toes when under the
covers. She has a stuffed dog that is a favorite toy. She has a reported birth date of June 2000. Bandit likes cardboard
boxes, digging in sand or water, and tubes. He also likes wrestling with Buttons. He was reportedly born summer of 2001. They have been together all of Bandit's life. Vet check and distemper shots done on 1/17/05.
Casper and Weasel (ADOPTED 1-22-05)
arrived on 10/5/04 because their owner did not have enough time for them. They have been around dogs, cats and kids. Both come to the
shaking of a treat can. They are well tempered and have been well cared for. They will make wonderful "first ferrets" for someone. The previous owner supplied complete vet records
showing that distemper and rabies vaccinations were done in July 2004. Weasel has a reported birth date of May 2000; Casper was born August of 2000. General health check done on 10/12/04.
Buddy
and Bonnie
(ADOPTED 1-15-05) arrived on 8/26/04 through Fox Valley Humane.
They were surrendered because the landlord would not allow them. They are very sweet and have not shown any nipping behavior here. Both arrived with bad coats, probably related to
diet in both cases, and aggravated by adrenal disease in Bonnie's case. Bonnie had successful adrenal surgery on 9/14/04. Bonnie and Buddy were most likely born early in 2000. Vet
check and distemper shots done on 8/30/04.
Diamond and Passion (ADOPTED 1-02-05) were originally adopted early in 2003. Prior to that adoption both had
broken canines removed. They were surrendered due to work changes for the person who had them along with Baby Girl and Angus
. They are very gentle, and have started slowing down as they age. We believe that they were born early in
2001. The person surrendering them provided vet records showing that they had distemper and rabies vaccinations done
by the Petco veterinary clinic on 7/21/04. They had post surrender health checks done on 11/9/04.
